Hello,

First I would like to say that I am glad that I stumbled across this forum. I have attempted to contact local breeders only to find out that their contact information is no longer correct or that they have moved on to bigger and better things. That said I have come here to see if anyone can help me in re-homing a Button Quail.

I don't know if these posts require a story but here it goes. I went to go visit my girlfriends parents in Los Angeles for Christmas. While there her father told us that he had found a bird out in front of the house and that he took it in because there are a lot of cats in the neighborhood. I asked what he was going to do with it and he said he did not know but that he couldn't take care of it and that none of his neighbors had lost a bird or new someone that had. Long story short I am in possession of a bird I cannot keep.

The bird itself is quite nice. In the 2 days I've had it the bird has stopped being so skittish and now whistles/calls, eats meal worms out of the hand, and seems to be comfortable. It is easy to see with some more time the bird could be comfortable around people. It is a white button quail, about 5 inches in length, and has not pecked me, the girlfriend, or the cats(the reason the bird has to be re-homed).

As for me and the situation, I would rather have a bird. I mean it's almost a magical animal that sings, produces fertilizer, and can drop eggs like magic. That said, my girlfriend is attached to the cats.

If you or someone you know are interested in adopting a white Button Quail with a gentle disposition please PM me.

This is the little fellow below.

Thank you.

I am too far away to help, but I hope you find a home for this little sweetheart. Thank you for taking the time to care for this bird while you seek it a new home. You told your story well!

Well first

glad to see you here

That is a very nice bird you have and could be
a great friend in the house as the sounds she
makes are considered very soothing ......
If you could give her some good chick feed
or Turkey Grow this would be great for her and
not regular bird seed .....

Yeah gander007, She has started to feel comfortable enough to start calling. It really is a great bird. I went to the feed store and got her some feed. I believe they called it wild game feed or something along those lines. She really enjoys it and it looks similar to the feed i see in the youtube videos. I do feed the bird meal worms. I initially got the meal worms because I wanted there to be at least one pet that likes my girlfriend more than me. So I thought that if she hand fed the bird worms it would warm up to her more than me. Well my plan backfired when my girlfriend shrieked at the site of the meal worms. Best laid plans and all.
