Hello,
First I would like to say that I am glad that I stumbled across this forum. I have attempted to contact local breeders only to find out that their contact information is no longer correct or that they have moved on to bigger and better things. That said I have come here to see if anyone can help me in re-homing a Button Quail.
I don't know if these posts require a story but here it goes. I went to go visit my girlfriends parents in Los Angeles for Christmas. While there her father told us that he had found a bird out in front of the house and that he took it in because there are a lot of cats in the neighborhood. I asked what he was going to do with it and he said he did not know but that he couldn't take care of it and that none of his neighbors had lost a bird or new someone that had. Long story short I am in possession of a bird I cannot keep.
The bird itself is quite nice. In the 2 days I've had it the bird has stopped being so skittish and now whistles/calls, eats meal worms out of the hand, and seems to be comfortable. It is easy to see with some more time the bird could be comfortable around people. It is a white button quail, about 5 inches in length, and has not pecked me, the girlfriend, or the cats(the reason the bird has to be re-homed).
As for me and the situation, I would rather have a bird. I mean it's almost a magical animal that sings, produces fertilizer, and can drop eggs like magic. That said, my girlfriend is attached to the cats.
If you or someone you know are interested in adopting a white Button Quail with a gentle disposition please PM me.
This is the little fellow below.
Thank you.
