I recently got a couple of chicks from TSC, labeled "layer pullets". They were right next to a bin labeled Amberlinks, and they looked just like the Amberlinks, except they were younger. I assumed that they were Amberlinks until one of the chicks legs changed color. She went from having pinkish orange legs and feet, to having grayish green legs. Not only are her legs a different color, but she is about twice the size of the other supposed amberlink. She has a strait comb, and all her feathers are coming in white. She is the boldest and definitely the most food motivated of all my chicks.
I know Amberlinks are not an actual breed, so could the gray legs be a recessive gene coming out, or could she be another breed altogether? If so, what?

I noticed no one replayed back, I have a story to tell you...I have a chick about 3 weeks old right now (I hope it is a hen) I will call it a her,

Her father is 1/2 barred rock and I believe 1/2 Rhode Island Red (could be Black Australorps) but he looks like other I have seen posted with RR,

the mother is either RR or Barred Rock or Black Australorp but since she is mostly yellow I'm leaning to RR there is other yellow chicks but they have yellow/orange legs and feet but she has For REAL green legs and feet also. I was also wondering how she got the green feet because we don't have any Araucanas (Easter eggers) so I was wondering too if she will lay green eggs like an Araucana.

Wish there were a list of what roosters crossed with what hen would be called other than mixed or what breeds made up the breeds we have now.

There have been a few posts on here about Amberlinks with greenish legs, apparently it's not unheard of.

don't australorps have black or Grey legs...and mixing that with a chicken with yellow legs could potentially give green legs if both genes present as dominant?

Sounds like a Cornish x

Thanks for all of your replies. Cornish x did cross my mind because she is so big and greedy, but I am glad to hear that the green legs rule that out. Here is a picture of her. Her legs have become less gray than they were.
Because she is very bold and curious, she has become my favorite.

Wow definitely looks like a Cornish X especially if it is the same age as the other chick's in that picture.
