White Chinese Goose Gender

I could tell that it was high enough to not be a girl at about 4 or 5 months.. also, they have a shrill shriek/whistle, not as much of a horn honk, more like a siren... the females make a classic HONK, the males have a higher pitched alarm sound...

I'd say its a little too young to tell, especially since you don't have a history of what the parents produce. Hatchery stock doesn't always get huge knobs like they should. The voice will be a good indication. If you get a whole group of them together, the smaller finer boned ones are usually the females. If you can find someone skilled in vent sexing.... I've watched Brian Hauger and Brian Schulte do it a number of times. Flip them over & hold them upside down between your knees, take your thumbs to open up the vent and look for the curly protrusion.

This is our 3 year old trio...

Now I think I know why my sweet Embden isn't so sweet...:) Thought something was different when a friend dropped off two baby Embdens without a knob....lol. still not sure but can't post pics until I've got 5 posts.
