Hi guys! I was out with the chickens today when I noticed my cockerel Kombucha has some weird stuff on her feathers. As far as I can tell, he is the only one who has it. Anyone know what it is?

Appear to be parasite eggs of some sort. Mites and lice come in many varieties.

What is the location.. under the chin, back of neck, etc? How does the skin look just below the vent?

Do you have a treatment regimen already? What is your general location? Adding it to your profile may help folks make their best suggestion possible at a glance.

They are just under the guys neck. The skin below the vent looks fine and I don’t have a treatment. We live in a the south so it is pretty hot

I suspected as large as they look that they might be in an area he couldn't reach during normal preening.

You might be able to just pick those off with your fingers and put in a little dish soap water to kill.

Otherwise, a permethrin based horse fly spray from the equine section.. ready mixed is affordable and easy to use.. a small spritz with feathers parted so it hits the skin.. just below the vent, under each wing pit, to the base of the head at the back where it meets the neck.. and right to his chin. Use a cotton swab soaked if your worried about getting it in his mouth and such.. No egg withdrawal required.. I would treat everyone personally IF treating so they don't become targets. Maybe someone will come along that actually recognizes the exact species and offer better advice.
