We found this little fellow roaming the streets in our town. We were able to catch him. Brought him home and introduced him to the flock! He's such a funny little character! I was able to find what I think is the place he came from. I'm waiting on word on whether or not we get to keep him today of all days, my birthday! I truly hope they allow him to stay, as this guy has earned our hearts!

Yay! So, I talked to the business where he came from. Supposedly, he's been placed in 4 homes just to wind up being returned due to him starting fights. She agreed to allow us to keep him free of charge!

Well, I am his 8th and final home. I'm really wondering if anyone gave this fella the time. They said that he kept being moved because he fought a lot. I'm wondering if it just wasn't the whole pecking order thing. He has fought 3/5 of my other roosters (1 kicking his behind badly, 1 him beating, and the other a draw). He does not roost, but sleeps in the nesting shed. He is a gentle, little thing though (or that's what he wants me to believe)! He keeps to himself and flirts with the ladies rarely. His crow is so much different than my others! Their's is a deep, hearty crow; whereas his, (lol) seems high, shrill, almost feminine (if you know what I mean)! A lot of people would think I'm crazy, but I think I like my chickens more than humans!

Oh, so you do have other roosters. Well, like you said, once given the time to figure out the pecking order, things usually calm down. And lots of space or easy escape routes for the lower ranking roo always helps. I hope the little Bantam cochin rooster settles in well. LOL, I don't think you are crazy - some of my best friends are chickens.

We just rehomed a white Cochin rooster today from the local feed store. He won me over when he let me hold him without raising a fuss. It seemed like he wanted me to hold him. Other than dirty feet feathers he looked perfect to me. Brought him home, washed his feet and put him in his own 2x3 cage with hay, food and water and let him settle in. I went out there later and he was sitting happily on his roost. The other chickens all checked him out. In the next day or two we will let him out to free range with the others, keeping an eye out for any unruly behavior. But I expect he will blend right in with the rest of the menagerie. I too often prefer my chickens to some of the people I know.

Is your Instagram @Rooandcrew?
Sorry you just seem to have the same stunning rooster in your little icon picture

That would be someone else. Big Red is indeed a stunning gentleman. The picture shows him sharing his meal with Lady. He takes good care of his girls. He even shares them with the other 9 roosters on the property. Everyone gets along here.

Here is a picture of Snow Bird

Today he spent some time inside today then he got to go out free ranging with the flock. He met a couple of the other roosters and was accepted by them. He spent last night in his own cage outside and is back in there tonight. Hopefully soon we can put him in the coop with the flock. He is really a darling and we have yet to hear him crow although he did call the ladies over when he was out pecking in the dirt. They didn't respond. Poor thing. Oh well, give them time to get used to him. We hope to get some good offspring from him. Would love to pair him with the white Silkie that we have.
