White Cornish: Building a Quality, Sustainable Flock for Meat and More.....

Yes, they can roam wherever they want(and occasionally where we don't want). The main predator is a collie dog(a little over a year) that will herd the chickens, and snap at them if they don't move. So my biggest worry is if she decides that the chicks are play mates and accidentally tears them apart, or snaps at them and gets them then. The next biggest issue is all the feral cats in the area.

20170702_190759-1.jpg FD this is one of my hybrid dark cornish that I had been thinking about working with. Out of a slew of males he carries his tail the lowest. Unfortunately so are his wings

Does he roost at night or sleep on the floor or ground? If a bird does not roost, it almost always has loose wings. I don't know why. That's not to say that a bird that roosts can't have loose wings, but iv put quite a few in the cull pen and a few weeks after they start roosting the wings look better. How did your hatch come out?

The first set I had 6 that made it. 12 never started, and the rest failed to pip. The second batch goes into lockdown Tuesday, I believe it will be better. The second batch is in my hovabator and the eggs always do better in it. And the rooster sleeps on a lawn chair. He is an f2 cross with the Saipan then back to the dark cornish.
