White egg layers?

Handle your White Leghorns a lot durring the first couple of weeks. They still won't be as friendly as some breeds but they won't be very flightly either.

I always hear that white leghorns lay lots of big eggs, but they're skittish and unfriendly, but nobody ever talks about the brown leghorns. Do they have the same temperament? I've had a white leghorn that was less friendly than most of my others, but I've never had a brown leghorn. I just assumed they'd be the same.

I always keep 4-6 brown leghorns around for white layers. I don't describe them as flighty or skiddish. They come right over to see what I have at 'chore time' when I fill feeders, waterers, bring treats. However, they do not like to be cornered inside the coop at all. I've also never had one that would qualify as a lap chicken. They lay well....usually 6 eggs/week/hen, including Winter (with light) ....large eggs, some XL in year two.
