We are buying some white leghorns for egg production- I have a buff orp and a splash blue laced red wyandotte roo. Does anyone know what color chicks these crosses would make?? thanks

I would put the Buff Orp roo on them to make some really nice looking chicks, I will be doing this as well with a Buff Orp roo with either White Leghorns or White Cornish Cross hens ( both are genetically the same color... Black or Birchen under Dominant White)

I have hatched one pullet before from a BO roo on a CX hen and she was mostly buff on the front half and blended into white in the back half and it was a very nice looking color. I believe the ammount of buff coming through is due to them inheriting the Db ( Dark Brown ) gene. Otherwise when breeding with White Leghorns or Cornish X, the chicks come out White with black dots and maybe have some red leakage if the father was red. For example I have also hatched chicks from a BA roo on CX hens which turned out white with Black dots, and then I also bred a RIR roo on them and the chicks also came out white with black dots, but also developed faint red lacing in the breast feathers as they matured kinda like how some Black Sexlink hens have faint red lacing in the breast feathers.

So like I said I will be doing this cross also with either White Leghorn or CX hens just to recreate more birds like the one I hatched a few years ago.
