Do all white leghorns lay white eggs?

All purebred White Leghorns will lay white eggs.

I bought 6 white leghorns from tractor supply this past spring and they are laying a light brown egg

Then they aren't Leghorns, but a production type white bird.

You have White Rocks, not White Leghorns. The differences are the body shape and the earlobe color (as well as the eggshell color). Leghorns have white earlobes and a thin, angluar body. White Rocks have red earlobes (like yours), and are more heavy set.

You never know what you are going to get when you buy chickens from a farm or feed store.

White Plymouth Rocks are good dual-purpose chickens. They lay very well, but not as well as White Leghorns.

Thanks all - the color of the egg doesn't matter much to me ( my DW was hoping for some white eggs) but I guess it is a lesson learned about where to buy chickens if you want a certain breed
