I’ve noticed these little white patches on my buff Brahma’s comb. She’s acting normal and otherwise looks okay. She just went through a super hard molt but looks so much better now. All the other chickens are fine and don’t have anything on their combs.

I’ve looked up pictures of Favus…I’m not convinced that what this is?

Should I apply coconut oil or go straight to an anti fungal cream? Any other suggestions or guesses on what this might be?

I've noticed a few of mine would get "crusty comb" around this time of year with the temperature drops. I had the same concerns about favus at first, though that seems to be a lot more extreme (like they dunked their comb in powdered sugar).

If it's cold where you are, you have to be very careful about applying anything to the comb. If it freezes, the poor bird will be miserable. I've used something called "Musher's Secret" in the past. It's meant for sled dogs and is more of a wax.
