White or Red Heat Lamps

I only use the white bulbs they always lasted longer than the red ones and they cost about 8 dollars less than the red ones

I have used both and agree with that it would drive them crazy. The chicks under the white lamps are frazzled looking, smaller and edgy. The ones in the red lights are healthy, growing, sleeping etc.
Good luck!

I have always used the red 250 watts and have never had a problem. If you have the correct fixture for that wattage, there is no problem. There are heat lamp fixtures that are not designed for the higher wattage bulbs. Check on the it to see the maximum wattage bulb you can use. This is my sixth year and have had no negative issues at all.

Thank you everyone, I will definately pick up a red one now that I know there could be a difference. I want to make sure these little gals get the best start they can.
