My family has some chicks from a white orpington roo and buff orpington and barred rock mothers. Are either of these crosses sex-linked as chicks? I used the genetics calculator and it looks like for the barred cross, males will be barred and females solid black, while for the buff cross they'll all be buff. But as few-day-old chicks, will the sexes look different? Here's a sample picture of a few of them:
