I have the DUN Platinum gene, Cuckoo gene, Delaware gene. Buff & White. ALL can be breed back to White to make more whites. Years ago I had a tough time getting quality Whites from the few who had APA SOP White Orps. So, I went on a plan to make them by using Cuckoo, Buff Cuckoo, and one Alan bred White Orp cockerel. As it turned out that White cock was barely used cause I started breeding Buff to Buff in which both had this recessive White gene and made my best Whites. I actually even got a few from a Canadian APA judge who never breed. It was these recessive White Buffs that made my birds the best. My Marge and Alan's Buff that I called Marge are the foundation of my White. here is a pic of my Marge where you can see the White tipped tail feathers that shows that she has the White gene. It is the best way to make good White by using the more built up of the Orpington varieties which are the Buffs.What varieties do you have exactly? DUN is Dun, A Dark Chocolate variety that is mostly found in Sumatras.Why is Dun in all caps? Does it stand for something?

So you're working with Recessive rather than Dominant White. And your Buff and Cuckoo birds both carry Recessive White? Where did the "dun" colored birds come from? I suspected as much. I couldn't figure out how that many varieties were being produced. I know surprises can pop up when you cross bloodlines. I know I was shocked to see the Recessive White birds hatching from my SLO when none of the previous breeders had ever hatched one. I do find the "dun" interesting. Can you explain what genes you think are at play there? I can't understand Buffs showing white in their feathers, either. REcessive White shouldn't show visually unless there are two copies. Do you know what would explain that? The "Columbian" colored birds I've seen pop up in SLO flocks occasionally. I've never seen one marked well enough with a Barred Columbian pattern to be considered close to a Deleware. Usually you can see some markings that indicate partial lacing.
