hen has white patches on her ears. Is this a disease?

I agree with Wyorp Rock. Some chickens have red earlobes, some have white.

Typically the white earlobe is associated with white eggs, and the red earlobes with brown eggs. However, I am raising Crevecoeurs, which the French standard says should have white earlobes, and the American Poultry Association standard says should have red earlobes. Both standards say the Crevecoeur should lay white eggs, which they do.
I have been selecting Crevecoeurs for the red earlobes, as Jeannette Beranger of the Livestock Conservancy suggested. It only took a couple of generations to get to the red earlobes. In between, I had some that really looked pink!

I've included a photo of a Crevecoeur roo with pink earlobes.
