Good morning!

My hens eggs have been perfect and steady but now they are steady and some are speckled. They look like someone sprayed them with that snow in a can stuff. It feels sort of etched. I don't know what chicken/chickens either. I only know its one of my newer girls who are all brown and white so go figure. Is this a sickness? Are they safe? Is it from the But-Al I recently started last weekend? Please help.

Thanks,
Cm.

i was wondering the same thing.i have brown egg layers and have noticed dark rough speckles on mine.

When you say that it's one of your 'newer' girls, do you mean she's new to laying? If that's what you mean, then this is normal and there's nothing really to worry about. They're just calcium deposits and she will eventually grow out of it.

I agree. If they look like they are cemented on the shell it is a calcium issue. It happens, don't worry about it.
