White stuff on leg

Hi there! My Serama rooster has something going on with his left leg, I'm not sure what- any ideas??

Since the scales are lifted, I think it looks like scaly leg mites. The treatment is to smother them by rubbing vaseline or an oil onto the legs a few times a week.

OK, I kind of thought that might be it but have also never seen them so didn't know what they look like. Thanks!
