Our two Blue Swedish ducks hatched 4 ducklings. Two look like their parents, the other two look like they are turning white. Any ideas? White Swedish or will they turn silver? Thanks everyone
There are three color phases, black, blue, and silver when you breed blue ducks together. If the parents are pure blue Swedish then your ducklings should be silver, not white. It works the same in chickens, only it's called splash instead of silver with them. Silvers can be mostly white or a light grayish blue. They are variable in color but they are unlikely to be pure white.
So these Swedish ducks turned out extremely white with only gray blue bills. Sorry the picture is a little hard to tell, due to the lighting. Definitely beautiful though no matter what.
