White vs Brown eggs

here in the midwest most people think brown eggs are fresh country eggs and white eggs are store bought. My liitle sister would never eat brown rggs. Dont know why. She just always said she didnt like them. Depends on what people know and what they prefer.

I agree. I grew up in rural Maine, and brown eggs were the norm. At Easter, we would get the white ones so we could dye them. Once I moved to Texas for school, and now St Louis, the norm is white eggs. I definitely was a brown egg snob for a while, but learned it didn't make a difference. I just got my first flock of 6 and will get brown and blue eggs from them - so I guess I still prefer the brown ones deep down, it is what I grew up with!

I have brown and green egg layers, chosen only because they were cold hardy breeds. It was after the fact that we realized that we had no white egg layers. I don't sell the eggs, but I give them away to friends and co-workers, and everybody is thrilled to see the different shades of brown and green, and the different sizes. The question I keep getting is "Why do the eggs at the store all look the same? How do they do that?"

One co-worker is from an urban area, and his family never ate brown eggs before, and they were nervous about the 1 green egg. I had another co-worker beg me to only give him brown eggs because "My wife will FREAK if there is a green egg"! I try to give people with kids the green eggs because they get such a kick out of them.
