I so want a couple of these! Super hard to find, and the place I’d normally get chicks is closed because of the virus. Does anyone have experience with this breed? Opinions?

I just got some!
The backstory is that I didn’t know if chicks would be shipped this year and chicks posted online locally were getting snapped up right away and the only ones I was able to get without waiting on a list were five wtb’s.
The parent stock is apparently from Meyer hatchery, four of them, three pullets and a cock, are very uniform in appearance but one is a different colour and a cock as well so probably destined for the pot.

Not the best pic but they’re in the coop now so I’ll try to get a better one later.
So far all I can say is that they’re growing well and they’ve been more musical than other chicks - not loud mind you, but lots of chatter and trills, I kind of like it!
Now the girl I bought them from is advertising hatching eggs and I’m debating getting more!

We bought two chicks a couple of years ago from McMurray's. They are great little birds, cold tolerant enough for the midwest winters, fairly frequent layers. Unfortunately, both of ours were killed by a predator at about a year old. :( We liked them enough that we have two more female chicks (and two Whiting true green females) in the brooder right now.

I wish I could find some eggs to hatch!
