I've been thinking my 6 week old Whiting True Blue is a cockerel because it's comb grew pretty fast. The breeder that I got it from said judging it's tail feathers compared to my Maran's that it is a pullet and my Maran is a cockerel. However, these two have been puffing up and fighting each other lately. So that makes me think they're BOTH roos...what do you guys think? I know it's pretty young to tell, just wondering of what I've seen so far.

The breeder is uninformed.

Different breeds feather differently; comparing a Marans to a Whiting is not going to work. You're right; they are both cockerels. Any chick showing red on the comb at six weeks is a cockerel.

EDT: And unless they're game birds, fighting each other at six weeks is just pecking order-related scuffles. Nothing to do with sex.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking...that it wouldn't be correct to compare the two. I wasn't sure about the fighting thing, so thanks for the info!
