Whiting True Greens

Egg Basket.jpg

Porkie Pie Ken gave you links to explain how egg color works.

I am sorry that the hatchery is pulling your chain

:welcome

In addition to a photo of the eggs, could you share a picture of your chickens too? I wonder if the hatchery sent you something other than the Whiting True Greens? Mix ups happen sometimes.
It recently occurred to me that the color of the pullets ear lobes indicates their egg shell color. Some of the pullets clearly have brown earlobes, they are also mainly brown in feather color. A friend told me the same thing, that there may have been an error or a substitution that the hatchery did without notifying me. I received 2 shipments one week apart, both with a few rooster chicks, and the second shipment had white chicks that are now full grown roosters with blue/green ear lobes. The first group had all brown roosters and some of them now have brown ear lobes. I plan to delete all the brown earlobed roosters.

It can, kinda.... earlobes can change between red-white....
and you're confusing ears(or ear covers) with ear lobes.

Thank you for your very clear explanation in the ear/ear lobe issue. I also have Isa Browns and there are clearly similarities in some of the Whiting True Greens that I have, I see no white or light color on the ear lobes and you can see I am getting brown eggs. I was hoping to get responses from others who purchased True Greens from Murray hatchery.

Hello, Im new here. This my second post.

I have two Whiting true greens, each has different feather color and pattern and both have white earlobes like a leghorn. Mine lay a beautiful medium green to olive green egg from the day they started laying. They are great layers too. Eggs every day.

Murray McMurray may have substituted a brown layer chick in your order instead. I had this happen too.

Here are my true green hens and their eggs
