It recently occurred to me that the color of the pullets ear lobes indicates their egg shell color. Some of the pullets clearly have brown earlobes, they are also mainly brown in feather color. A friend told me the same thing, that there may have been an error or a substitution that the hatchery did without notifying me. I received 2 shipments one week apart, both with a few rooster chicks, and the second shipment had white chicks that are now full grown roosters with blue/green ear lobes. The first group had all brown roosters and some of them now have brown ear lobes. I plan to delete all the brown earlobed roosters.
In addition to a photo of the eggs, could you share a picture of your chickens too? I wonder if the hatchery sent you something other than the Whiting True Greens? Mix ups happen sometimes.
It can, kinda.... earlobes can change between red-white....It recently occurred to me that the color of the pullets ear lobes indicates their egg shell color. Some of the pullets clearly have brown earlobes, they are also mainly brown in feather color.
I'll ask for thread to be moved to 'general breeds' forum, might get more response there.I was hoping to get responses from others who purchased True Greens from Murray hatchery.
