Ditto!

ETA: Also hog jowl. Yum yum yum!

I have some pig jawl and we tried it once and it was gross as ever. The flavor is good but the texture is like your chewing on a chunk of fat. What can I do with what I have left?

You've got to fry it to a crisp. If it was boiled in with the greens to add flavor, it probably was flabby and gross.

NOT...although I would like to have some. We are having Hoppin John.....rice, blackeyed peas, spinach and...all kinds of meat in it...bacon, smoked sausage and andule (I can't spell it but cajun sausage). Great dish. Goes a long way and can freeze it for lunches over the next couple of months!

I put it in potato soup and I can't remember if I fried it up first. I would think I would have. Maybe not crisp enough and maybe I should not put it in so early so it does not get back to normal state from soaking in the liquid.

Thank you, I will try again.

Had soughum on the table with my buttermilk biscuits this morning..but you know what I can't find anywhere? Ribboncane syrup... does that ring a bell with anyone? That was always my fave growing up

I haven't thought about ribboncane in years. I don't remember seeing it anywhere....

Brings back memories..

I've never heard of ribboncane syrup. I was raised on sorghum syrup, which my dad called "soppin' syrup".
