Who built this coop on here????

We have an A frame tractor with 4 hens and it has to be moved every day. I could see 2 separate runs working, so that the tractors weren't too big to move, and there was still greens under the tractor at the end of the day.

really??? how do you know?? i sent them a message i think, but no reply

I really don't want to "tractor" anything. But do coops need to be moved constantly around the yard to different spots or what??

I just misunderstood- I look at the A frame design as a movable coop, but if you don't want to move it, there are so many better designs for accessibility - you could be walking into your coop instead of bending down for everything. And certainly you could have a more predator proof design. Good luck in your building!

it's ok. The a-frame would be a movable design seeing that the run is de-tachable...which in this case is EXACTLY what i want!!! Thank you for your input. I figured that if i built a taller/bigger coop i could walk into meant that i would end up buying more materials which would mean i would spend more cash'ola!! lol my budget is in the 100 to 300 buck range

When you don't have much cash to build with Freecycle.org and Craigslist are your best friends. Don't be passive, post asking for materials free or cheap. Post asking for someone who will let you tear down a fence for the materials. Fence parts are great cheap coop supplies, both privacy and chainlink. Different end results, obviously, but you get the picture. I've even managed very cheap welded wire before. At times you will find free sheds or even houses. Check glass suppliers for pallets. Their pallets are frequently up to 8 feet long, and made of 1x6s and 2x6s. If you are lucky they are screwed together.

We were lucky enough? to have wood left from the previous owners of our house to build, but I did stop by a farm where I saw a coop laying out in their pasture and asked if they wanted to get rid of it (I figured the hard work was done) but he said it wasn't worth anything. I think some people have also built coop out of recycled plastic playhouses, the possibilities are probably endless if you decide to go junking!! Oh, I meant that in a positive sense, you never know what you can find!
