Who determines sex of chicks - rooster or hen??

Chicken genetics are different from mammal genetics in that the female is ZW and the male ZZ, so the female determines the sex of the chick (Just confirmed that with a very scientific article on chooks)

the hen determines the sex... and yes, it's a fluke that the bown ones are mostly males... it'll be 50-50 after a few hatch... by that theory, you should hatch more of the brown ones now...

Ok, so the hen determines the sex of the chick. Got it. Now if you have a hen that lays eggs that hatch out to be mostly girls, would that trait likely be passed along to her girl chicks as well?
Thanks, Sherry

With one Rooster, one of my favorite hens usually had 50/50 split. Now with the other Rooster,, she really liked him.. she ended up with 99% Hens. Loved that.

I have a roo that all his kids are female so far! I plan on hatching eggs from my other roo just to see what I get.
