So we hatched out chicks at the school where I teach, which was an amazing experience for kids and adults alike. They will live on the grounds of my school, now comes the hard part.....duh duh duh... figuring out breeds and of course whose a cockerel and whose a pullet. We would like friendlier breeds, being as they will be around children. 6 are pictured. These beauties are 2 weeks old , any guesses on gender and sex, or is it just too soon? I think the black one is a Black Star and possibly a cockerel, very active, bossy and, upright in stance. I also believe I may see two Light Brahmas? One hatched out of a bluish maybe Olive egger? I think that's the one with spots on head and dark wings? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you !

Super cute!
Your black one looks more like an australorp than a black sex link.
Way to early for male behaviors to show up.
I agree no brahmas in the lot.

Thank you ,oh darn... I love Brahma's, is that what most hatcheries offer to schools? I would imagine they are less expensive.

These eggs came from a hatchery not a local farm?
If from a hatchery they are likely to be pure bred or from mixes that hatchery sells like Easter Eggers.

Which hatchery? What assortment was bought?
It may help narrow down the possibilities.
