I'm wanting to start my own website, who would you recommend to use to host it, and how much do you pay for yours? I don't have any web design software of my own.

Homestead.com

Not free but completely drag and drop software. Great ease of use for those of us who don't know HTML.

COmes with 1,000s of templates or create your own. You can add shopping carts, stores, menus, etc.

I use webhostgiant.com and love it. Only $15 for both of my websites for 3 months! And it's awesome about down-times (doesn't have any! LOL)
Not sure what kind of site builder they offer. I upload my pages and use MS Frontpage to create them myself...

GoDaddy.com has it all
wide range of prices depending on what all you want.
I have been using them for many years and there customer service is also outstanding.

texas_chick, do you use their deluxe plan?

I've been promising to build a website for my husband for the longest time also. Maybe that's the kick up the butt I need

I bought my domain name from GoDaddy.com but have my hosting through Vermont Web Host. I love, love, LOVE them!

If I have a problem I get to speak to a real person. They've bent over backward to help me fix an issue that was my fault. Never had down time. Their control panel is really easy to use. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have used Microsoft Frontpage to make site designs.

HOnestly though, right now I mostly use my site to host my blog. I got one through wordpress.org and installed it on my domain. There are tons of templates you can install/tweak to make it look like you want.

Vermont Web Host's control panel has several programs for content that you can just install/update via Fantastico de Lux so that you have the template already. But that really depends on what you are going to do.

If you have some specific questions, feel free to PM me to ask. Not only do I have my own site but my husband is a Sys Admin and is used to me pestering him about all sorts of things.
