I just can't pass up a good feather. Especially when Leilani (my Sebbie) loses a real long curly one. I have wads of feathers that I keep. Turkey, chicken, duck, geese. If its on the ground and its in good shape, I keep it. I have no idea what I will do with all of them. I must have something on my mind for them. I keep saying I won't pick up any more but then I see another good one.......

I have collected Peacock feathers for over 25+ years. I have never owned a peacock, go figure.

I've been collecting feathers for years too...not chicken or poultry feathers....a hawk, crow, owl, cardinal, goldfinch.. Maybe we all just have a bit of avian blood

As incredible as it sounds, it is illegal to collect wild bird feathers in the US! You have to have a permit. I have never heard of anyone being charged and arrested for possessing feathers (other then raptor feathers) but it is actually a law.

I work at a parrot sanctuary when I'm not at college. I am ALWAYS collecting the feathers. Most of them I leave at work for my boss who also collects them, but every now and then I will take a pretty one, or one from a favorite bird. I have a whole bag of them in my car for some reason. I also have some gorgeous macaw tail feathers and cockatoo crest feathers!
