who else has eggs cooking???

Getting close to the end with my duck eggs, it's really hard just leaving them alone, I had a major temp drop yesterday for no apparent reason, if my estimate is right I'm on day 26, with the drop in temp, I checked a couple eggs, and they are fuller now/ducklings have moved into the pointy end. I don't think all them made it, but don't want to pull any just in case they are just a little behind due to being in a slightly cooler spot (I have a homemade incubator)

I took the first set of eggs from my silkie, as I caught her with yolk on her face, and a pile of eggs in front of her, she is trying to sit again, we will see what happens this time, I guess

What do you mean a safety hole?
What happened?
Maybe this will help me if I get into this situation :/

A safety hole is a small air hole placed in the air cell so that the chick has air and won't suffocate if it can't externally pip for some reason Hope that helps

And so it begins. One external pip.
It's a bit early, though (day 19).
Edit - wrong end pip... sort of? Not exactly where it should be, but not quite in the small end either. She pipped through the shell but not the outer membrane.
Edit 2 - Took a pair of tweezers and pulled back a bit of the outer membrane so she could breathe. So far so good. I'll leave her alone until morning.

I always make sure the membrane is tore if it's not obvious within a few hours of them cracking the shell.
I had 2 chicks pip kinda in the middle 2 hatches ago..one had ruptured it's yolk, pipped on the under side of the egg and by the time I realized it had pipped, the yolk had leaked out the pip and dried and the chick couldn't breathe :'(

No other pips yet. Maybe later tonight, we'll see.

As for the wrong-end pipper, no progress for about 18-20 hours. The small end is so cramped that she can't unzip, I suspect. All blood vessels have receded, and the membrane around the pip is turning brown and dry. Should I help her out a bit?
Edit - I take it back, I have 2 other pippers.

Yep. I would definitely help it
When that membrane starts turning brown, it's drying out and the chick won't last much longer. As long as the blood vessels and yolk are absorbed, he or she is ready

The little guy pipped and hatched in under 15 minutes. A new record!

Lol..I love those fast babies..even just one egg I don't have to stress over is great Yep, anytime I help I try to keep their bottom half in the shell..they need that 'kicking out' for their legs..don't know what it does, but I've always been told it was important and it seems like if they dont, there's always some issue with legs or tendons.. Glad your hatch is going great! Can't wait to see pics when they're all fluffed ♡

ME ME ME I have 22 in the hatcher now that should hatch tomorrow. I've got 10 welsummers and 12 blue/black marans. One has pipped and I hear peeping. Wednesday I have more marans and cream leghorns. Two of the leghorn eggs have twins and are both still doing great but I'm expecting trouble with them. I also have some EE, silkies, and SLRW that were set Tuesday

Lovely news. The wrong-end pipper is starting to kick her way out of the egg, it seems like she'll be fine. The just-hatched one is very happy and healthy, and the others have all pipped, one of them just started unzipping.
