Who else is at work right now? & what do u do? & have u been profiled?

I'm a stay at home, home schooling mom. My husband programs computers and does some self employment work on the side. Most people who know us pretty much think of us as rednecks. We claim the title with no problems and generally live up to it. All though I did have one very sweet lady word it to me as saying I was a "country girl at heart." That pretty much sums it up.

Wow! I would have never guessed that we had such a wide array of people from different path's. How cool is that! Now when I go into town I'll be thinking to myself "I wounder how many other "normal" people have chickens?" lol Why is it that having chickens is so looked down upon? Oh and the person that called me a wet back was my conically negative, constant racist grandmother. Talk about confusion, she raised me! lol I try not to take it to heart but MAN she makes me mad when she speaks before she thinks.

Psssst. I'm at work, reading and posting on BYC. I used to be a 9-1-1 dispatcher, then supervisor at a 9-1-1 Center (for 25 of my 27 years in the 9-1-1 arena) but promoted to another technical position with regular, week-day hours and in a different city. But I can still multi-task and switch from phone to this or that computer program like THAT *snapping fingers*

And do, quite frequently, throughout the day.

And yes, some folks have called me "hillbilly" and many are amused by my chicken keeping.

I'm a laid-off Weigh Master. Hubster has his own carpet installation business.

Our friends and family call us rednecks for several reasons....we bake our own bread...have 3 gardens and put up most of our vegetables...and 80% of the meat in our freezer is from something Hub harvested when either hunting or fishing.

We were married in our backyard with him in his camo's and me in my favorite old hippy dress...I wouldn't have had it any other way...

So if that's what makes us rednecks...then sure....I'm proud of it. I love the way we live...

I deliver pizza, and DH works at WalMart. We are pretty "redneck" I guess. More country than redneck, but we have a lot of bona fide redneck relatives

All of my neighbors think it's both unusual and cool that I have all kinds of chickens here in the city.
A few city folks think it's downright weird to keep chickens, but nobody has ever said anything RUDE about ME personally. The people who think it's weird to keep chickens are just ignorant, they think that all chickens smell like a Tyson farm

so they can't understand why I would want to keep them in my yard.

I'm a repair/Supply person for a University. People don't think I'm strange for having chickens. I give them way to many other reasons to think I'm strange. Plus most of them have seen me do weirder things and do pretty surprising things with it. I think most everyone is waiting and watching to see just what comes of the chicken stuff, lol. And yeah I'm a redneck, Doesn't take a chicken for someone to know that either.

I was seriously looking on Craigslist yesterday for a pair. We live in a very un-overall neighborhood and I revel in doing anything that sets me apart from the Range Rover driving soccer moms I'm surrounded by.

I'm a university student.... supposed to be studying for finals right now. If there are any chicken questions on my exams I'll be in good shape.

I work for an Ad Agency - love my job and my co-workers - all 32 of them! I worked here for years before I was married and became a parent. Returned 3 years ago - after being a stay at home mom for 15 years - some faces have changed but not the heart or soul of the agency...it's like family - I thank God for my job everyday.

I never really sign off of BYC and the site is saved in my "favorites" at both work and home. Love the site and I visit it often.

Self employed.. I run a powder coating company. And I pop in to check on BYC at some point most days. And for sure every afternoon.
