(You'd have broken eggs for sure if the bricks were in the nests!)
We actually used something like that in the beginning. We used 3 crates, tied together side-by-side, with a piece of OSB board on top. The OSB board had bricks on top of it to add weight to the crates and keep them in place.

Im still waiting and watching, set my silkies eggs
in the bator on the 21st. First time with silkies .so im expecting a hatch on Sept.12 or maybe the 11th.
LoL they may get anxious to meet me.

I hope I get lucky.

My cochin hens dont want anything to do with milk crates so
Iuse buckets from cat litter hooked on to the wall easy on and off for cleaning. onl;y 3 inches off the floor the buckets have a lip on it that keeps the eggs from rolling out. and the shavings stays in.

I have pic of my cochins and hope to get the silkies buttttt
have them in my cell so I will transfer them to here.
dont know how to use my camera duh. but Iam trying,, Lol

I was given a candler with my new incubator. I thought about trying it out tonight - to make sure it works.
The pea eggs are on day 5. Duck, guines, and chicken eggs are on day 4.
I saw veining in 2 of the pea eggs, one of the guinea eggs, one duck egg, and about 6 of the chicken eggs!!
Hooray!
I guess my candler works.
I'll candle "for real" on day 9 (10 for the peas) and give a definitive report. I didn't even mark the fertile ones...it's too early for me to make judgements.

wooo, lucky you ...a candler!!! wow....well I left the house today for dr. appts...my LG has been doing great holding its temps/humidity just right...I leave and am gone...left at 930am...check bator...99.6 40%....came home at 230pm and it was 98.8 40%

You think this hurt my eggs???? I adjusted the a/c in the room...and back at 99.5-100.2

I spent yesterday trying to find the old electric fencer...

No luck yet...the new one died and I have horses getting out. I still have a corner of the garage to look in. (stuff was literally dumped when we moved, poor help)

I also need to make a new brooder for the quail and chukers that are due now and get a frame made and the other quail outside!!! Also have 2 shoeing clients to squeeze in, one 1 1/2 hours away...I need more energy and more daylight!
