One thing I have noticed, when I have a good number of eggs due at the same time they will cause the temperature to go up the last few days before hatching.
A few eggs will not do this but a decent number will.
I am so happy with the remote temperature thingy....need more coffee....lol

I need more coffee also!!!! ok ...remote thing??? can you explain? sorry went to the doctor yesterday, gave me a heavy pain medication...whew!!!! hard to function, dont know if I want this.

so remote???

I love to candle but am using just a flashlight. Paganbird what kind is your candler? I keep thinking bout getting one but don't want to spend money on one and have it not much better then my flashlight....

It's just one of those plug-in hand-held candlers that cost about $17 in any poultry catalog. It's honestly not any brighter than my little flashlight I was using, but it does make it easier to candle because it fits to the contours of the egg. It was free, though. I wouldn't buy one if you have a flashlight that works well.

I spent yesterday trying to find the old electric fencer...

No luck yet...the new one died and I have horses getting out. I still have a corner of the garage to look in. (stuff was literally dumped when we moved, poor help)

How many horses do you have? I just have 2, but when they get out, they go to the only house on the road with a manacured lawn. The lawn looks like a golf course... and , never fail, my horses run through it. That neighbor offered to pasture my horses on their side property - probably just to keep an eye on them. That was worse. They ran through the fence to get to his lawn... twice!
LOL! They're back in their original pasture now.

I also need to make a new brooder for the quail and chukers that are due now and get a frame made and the other quail outside!!! Also have 2 shoeing clients to squeeze in, one 1 1/2 hours away...I need more energy and more daylight!

At least you sound like you're being productive!!

Candled mine and have five that look good, looks like the little sizzle pullets eggs are infertile but I'll let them run a couple more days. If not I'll collect more at the end of the week and start those. She's with a roo I KNOW knows his business now - the other may have been too young.

Luck to all ... here we go again....

Someone come hide my incubator from me. I want to start another hatch but I wouldn't be able to get rid of the chicks around here this time of year. No one would want to heat them during the winter (well except me) I overwintered chicks last year.

I might just throw in say 6 eggs from "Stubby" my frizzle cochin who is actually more like a dilluted sizzle. Now that I know exactly which eggs are hers - I kind of want to see if she is the one throwing my nicer sizzles.
