I have visions of trampling through the woods looking for eggs from mine...

So at least there is hope.

I found some eggs inside a tire that is on top of a chicken tractor this morning...I still haven't decided what I'm going to do with them

Day 24 I was set to turn off the incubators and went to deliver some chicks. When I got back there was a pip. So glad I didn't pull the plug 2 hrs earlier! A little Papiseed hatched out.. so cute. From now on I'm waiting until day 25-26 for sure... that must be the chicken equivilant of 'buried' alive?

I had a pullet that hatched on day 26 with some help from her broody this spring. I had given her chicks and she still was sitting tight on her "nest" (had her in the house) I went to take her egg away on day 26 and she had actually stomped it in an effort to free the chick. I go her out an she grew into a really pretty irradecent black bird. I sold her though because she was VERY wild.

These were stuffed behind a straw bale, I've found them in the woods before - in poison ivy and blackberries to be specific.

The first one is out! And It's a Delaware so it's screaming it's fool head off. A second is pipped, the other looks odd and will be tomorrow at earliest I think.

I want some of Speckled Hens Dels. They look so pretty and sound so interesting.

Now its off to remove a fly strip from the crazy EE. Its on her pretty good.

This one is from my Roo who's from Isaac's breeder and my hens from another breeder. So he's the next generation getting going, nice black mark on the back of his head, the head he is still trying to shout off.

Fly STRIP?? and feathers? OMG what a mess.

I always wait 25 days before I give up on any. Then I open them up. Once I found a live chick with a bit of yolk. I wrapped it in wet papertowel and kept it damp and the next day the yolk was gone and chick was fine. All the others I checked have either died just before pipping or a day or two just before. i don't understand why this is unless it was from opening the bator too much. I have it fixed now where I don't open it unless i'm going to candle and it's open long enough to grab an egg then I shut it. I'm hoping to have a 100% hatch this time. From what I can tell they are all growing. Its almost impossible to see inside green eggs. I can barely tell there is an air cell as it is. There are 4 days left before hathcing starts. The temps have stayed 100 degrees so I may have a few early birds.

Well, since I don't have any eggs left, you all better post pictures!
Oh, yeah, and...
How in the world do you remove a fly strip from a hen?!?
(Sounds dangerous. And messy.)

And what are you asking for pics for? I've only seen pics of your ducklings I think

Guess what? I've finally got 7 or 8 duck eggs in my bator, and I know these are duck eggs this time!
