Don't tell my husband! I'm hatching peafowl, button quail, cortunix quail, guineas, a couple breeds of LF chickens & a couple breeds of bantams. All new breeds/species for me. (Well, except the peafowl.)
It is a cabinet incubator... I had to get a "few" eggs, didn't I?
And since they'll mostly be hatching on different dates, I'll get to try out the hatcher, too!

Just don't expect me to post how many eggs I'm setting... just in case DH reads this post!

But why would he buy you a cabinet incubator if he didn't expect you to fill it???

Are peafowl harder to hatch than chickens or ducks? If I had someplace for them to go I would hatch some.

She purchased some peacock earrings tonight on-line. The obsession grows..

So really - how many eggs?

Well, I'll let you know if pea eggs are really harder after this hatch. They are definitely harder to hatch in a still air LG with no turner & 2 power outtages.

I'll just say I'm setting more eggs than I have live birds right now!

You got me to admit to all the different types of eggs... asking how many...
maybe, maybe I'll give an actual total when all the eggs are set in the 'bator.

I got a Hovabator and am hatching frizzle polish and sultan eggs and also button quail... I want to hatch peafowl sooo bad but I think they may be too loud for where I live =/ I guess I will need to figure out a hatcher since I am doing different batches with different times...

Peafowl can be loud... and they need a lot of room to move around.
They're great chicks, though. Much calmer & quieter than chicken chicks.
I am getting an assortment of pure bantam eggs. There should be some polish eggs in there, I'm hoping. I've never had polish before & it'll be fun to have some new breeds around.
You can buy a cheap LG without a turner to use as a hatcher. Or you could just leave them all together with the eggs on "lockdown" laying on the bottom of the bator to hatch and the "still incubating" eggs in cartons.

I just this morning at 6a.m. set into the bator 12 silkies
first time working with silkies. expect hatch date about
Sept. 11-12-?? I hope I have a happy hatch day.
and happy Hatch Day all.

I love silkie babies!
You'll have to post pics when they hatch!
I'm not hatching any silkies this time around. Seems that's all I hatched over the summer - now my silkie coop is full.
Good Luck with your silkie eggs!

Today is the day!!!!! Mine are sitting on my table, and my mother in law is having hers picked up and brought over....this is it!!!!!!

woooo hoooo!!!!!!

set up a thread called:

WE HAVE SET OUR EGGS FRIDAY
so we can all jump in and see how we are doing

I set 4 eggs today, but I have 2 more boxes coming in... and they'll have at least 4 different hatch dates (being different species.)
I'll be on this thread so I don't get confused - I'll have enough to think about with all these eggs!
