The baby EE has an EE mom and a black copper maran dad - should give olive eggs if a girl.

If the hen is a cuckoo and the papa is not barred in any way then all chicks in that mating will be solid black girls and barred boys. I have just started hatching out cuckoo maran X bcm roo chicks and already have requests for pullets next spring. I have two pullets and a roo that are about 4 weeks old now. Plus I sold two and have a day old pullet from that cross.

I cant believe it. The 3rd chick hatched then got pushed out over the protection bar straight into the water trough. I had to lift the lid and scoop the chick out of the tiny gap with a spoon.
Its breathing but very weak. Ive now covered the teeny gap.

But opening the lid is a big no-no so have I harmed them all?
It was open for less than 2minutes.
Temp dropped to 36.6c (97.88)but rose within 5 minutes to 36.9c(98.42) and rising.
Humidity is up to 90%
Advice anyone??

Not pipped. Two others had hatched all cherping loudly now. Temp now back up to 98.96f

I didn't know you could mist them! The humidity went straight back up in less than a minute.
