Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

I candle my mixed batch last night. They are due to hatch

on the 9th sept. At the moment ive fot movement in 7/13 eggs that i set. If they all hatch that wouldn't be a bad hatch rate would it?

This is (as Ive said many times because I'm so excited) is my 1st hatch, ive written everything down every day including the weather, Im not sure it makes a difference as my husband went overboard insulating the house. My DH (who name is Dean Hoskins!), thinks I'm completely potty. I hoping that I will learn lots so next time my hatch rate will improve.

Ive still got my fingers crossed for everyone out there.

8/31 : I just set 9 Silkie eggs from my hens. I have more coming from Sunshine pretty soon.

Yes this thread has gotten long hasn't it? I've actually upgraded my status just from this thread! From 'just hatched' to 'out of the brooder'. Now THAT is a long thread!

Glad to know that the watery air cell is okay. I actually had a few eggs that, after 10 days of incubation looked just like a fridge egg with a moving yolk and no veining and that was it.
Shouldn't anything fertile at least start developing even if it doesn't make it all the way?

Not all eggs are fertile that should be. And some stop real early in development.
I checked out the last batch of quail and my nonhatchers all stopped somewhere after day 10, most looked to be about a week from hatch.

Ok, I candled...and ohhh yeah...I saw movement of course I didnt do all the eggs..did about 4-5...different areas...so far so good.

9:55pm, ok earlier it was daylight, and not really a dark room...just re candled again...and OMG!!!! Those Veins!!!, those tiny bodies floating around, 11 more days and we are ZIPPING AND A PIPPIN'....I dont think I'll make sept 11th....think with this hot texas heat/humidity...Im gonna hatch EARLY....maye 8th...????

Do you know how hard it is to Candle and be on medication that makes your feel woozy

, and like your drunk!!!...I was holding those eggs like they were glass slippers!!!

We candled some last night and we definately saw spiders in a few!!

My locally laid, shop eggs don't look too promising

We opened 2 last night and one looked fertile but I'm still learning

We decided to wait til friday now and candle the lot

Don't know if I can wait .........
