Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

Candling question. So I have 2 eggs that, when candled, show a little teeny black line about 1/4 inch long. It's like somebody drew on the inside of the shell with a fine tipped sharpie about half way down. Is this a sign of death?

It's not a circle? Is it a verticle line? Did you see veins too? This case probably calls for the same advice: wait a couple days and candle again...that should give you your answer.

:fl that it's just a vein or other unaffecting oddity.

That's always the best advice: When in doubt, wait it out.

You should never toss eggs until at least day 14 anyway, just to be sure (unless they are stinky or weepy).

Someone was offering free quail eggs on CL last night - I'm tempted to go get some. I think they were button quail.

Should I give it a try?

ETA: I e-mailed the person gonna go ahead and try quail. The little button eggs sound cute and I just found out my son LOVES pickled eggs!

I am incubating for the first time ever. Eggs are due to hatch Sept 15th or 16th. Still not sure which day to count as day number one... 24 hours later or the minute I put them in incubator. I am hatching Buttercups and some small brown eggs for a new friend and wheaton blues and wheatons for ME ME ME. I am so excited and praying that all hatch and that the majority are pullets..
