Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

Ok, today is day 17...one more day and turner comes out...BUT...problems...my temps wont stay lower than between 100.1-100.8 my humidity is holding....I dropped the a/c down in the room and it brings the bator down to 99.9 holds for a few hours and then later again back up....I read if you put alittle water about 1/2cc that it brings temps down...ok, so my temp that day reached 101.7, so I added the 1/2cc...sure enough brought temps down.

Last night before bed at midnight, after checking it again for the millionth time, thats why I was up late....my temps were rising...I went to bed and it was 100.4, this morning again...100.8....

Ok, the medic in me thinks this....On candeling day, I took out 11 eggs that werent fertilzed and were nothing but yellow inside....so I took them out, thus...taking those out, now my surface area changed....and two...whatever fluid was in the eggs was taking and keeping my temps at 99.5-100.0

Once I removed the eggs that is when my problems started I have an LG 9200 and never had a problem during this hatch since then.....

so come on buddies, Ideas!!! my a/c is now down to 76 in the room, while it did bring the temp down for maybe 4hrs...its gone back up again. Should I just make the room cooler?

Checked the broody hatcher just now - she is the proud mama of a baby girl!

The silkie was trying to burrow under her - not happening. She's got her own eggs!

Could the temp be going up since the eggs are getting close to hatch? More movement, more energy expended, more heat?

It is not a worrisome temperature to me. Maybe you are going to have some day 19/20 hatches?

I agree fully. Eggs get busy and temps go up all on their own.

I find it interesting that I can usually tell good from bad eggs by what tempthey are before I candle them. Hatching is just amazing and fun!!!!

well thats what I was thinking...that with temps like this...that my hatch might not see Sept 11th and start popping now....Im on day 17....so my next question is this...Im on day 17 and if I dont make it till tomm day 18 when I remove the turner....I guess I should take the turner out today??? IF THEY DO START ZIPPING? so they dont get hurt....my thoughts...but what if the rest dont zip and I take the turner out...one day cant make much of a difference can it?

I know in my Medic world yes one day, one minute, one second can save a life, or lose a life.

I dont get much of a humidity drop when I open my bator. It might drop for a minute or two and then it is right back up.
I had always planned staggered hatches but now I am putting quail in as they are laid. I still plan on babying my chicken and duck eggs.

If your eggs were here in my house I would take them out of the turner and then hand turn and check them. What you do I think will depend on how much of a humidity drop you usually get when you open the hatcher.

It doesn't hurt them to take them out of the turner a day early at all.
As long as your temps stay around 100 all should be well. Hatching isn't the exact science that some make it out to be. IMO.

I wish I could look under my little broody and see more chicks - but that was the only egg out of 4 to develop. Two were infertile and one became a potential stink bomb.

The silkies have 4 more eggs between the two of them that aren't due for like 2 more weeks.

Then I have the ten in the bator that are due next week.

Woo... my button quail eggs started hatching yesterday! My mystery frizzle crested bantam eggs are due on friday, crossing my fingers

You'll have to post some pics of those mystery babies when they hatch.
Congratulations on the buttons!
