We left on an impromptu over night camping trip yesterday at about 10:30 and when we got home today at noon there were 3 olive eggers hatched and another pipped.... I need to go out of town more often!! Pics to follow

Is it safe to assume that if I have coturnix quail eggs on day 20 that they're aren't going to hatch? How long should I wait before taking them out of lockdown? The hatching chickens are stumbling all over them which might not be helping if there even IS something in there.

Pagan!! where are those chicks!!???

I don't know if I'd give up on those cortunix just yet. I'm on day 17 with the buttons... they're alive & kickin' - but not hatched yet. Cortunix are supposed to take 18 days. I'd give them to day 23, at least.
Maybe you could try candling them to look for movement.

Went to lock the coop down tonight and about had a heart attack. My broody was on a totally different nest. I thought CRAP someone got her chick!

She (the chick) moved to the new nest with her mama.

This is a proven mama - I know she will protect that chick with her life - but there was that moment.

We still need a big sigh smiley.

wow, I would have freaked out also...must have been one of those days ....I also had an OH NO!!!! if you notice in my coop pictures mine is open underneath so they can get away from the sun, and do a dust bath and sleep...well when it rains my chickens are DUM DUM AND DUMMIES...the area floods, and they go underneath and then I cant get them unless I lay in water up to my calves....and get under the coop myself...I do NOT know why they wont go into there COOP!!!!!

well now when it starts to rain I block that so they cant go in, do they go into the COOP? NO...DUMMIES STAND AS CLOSE AS THEY CAN TO THE COOP BUT DO NOT GO IN!!!!

So I had blocked it, but there was a tiny space, that I didnt see, and one of my hens went in there, when I went out this a.m to feed, I was looking for her all over! in the coop, kept counting my chickens...I ran out, looking in my yard, I thought OMG!!! something got her and will get these...she was under the coop!!!

I had a heart attack!!!! Then I saw her tiny feet....

HOW DO I TEACH THEM TO GO INTO THE COOP!!!!!

Check my eggs in bator...doing good!!! tomm DAY 18...WHHHOOOO HOOOO...and DH wants to go to Ma's over night!!!

ok, ten total... my ratio SUCKS,, but is my first time and had problems with my bator.
So out of 41 i got 10. (uggg). But they are the cutest lil bastards on the planet. lol.

this is the LAST of my hatch.. hes in the inc by himself...

my new hatch group... huge assortment. RIR (x2) polish white crested (x2) (i had ordered 6) one looks like a silky, and another looks like a naked turk. And then theres some with yellow feathers on their head. lol.
interesting lot regardless. i ordered 6 polish and got 40 eggs. I cant complain. I got a nice assortment of pretty lil chicks. Just wish i had been able to save them all.

this is the one im thinking is the naked. no feathers on her neck and missing some on her chest. anyone have a clue?

Anyway, this was my hatch. its all done now... looking at what eggs i want to buy for the next one. lol

Hello there! This is one of the little Olive Eggers. So super cute. Next to the quail they seem HUGE but they are so soft and fuzzy. How long before they start doing little poos? I've just noticed that the chick side has no dropping and the quailside is PooVille... any thoughts?
