BTW...
Thanks, everyone, for hatching with me! It has been a lot of fun to get to hatch with so many of you! I only have one egg left - the lone guinea egg. It went into lockdown today and should hatch in the next 5 days.
I love the cabinet incubator & hatcher. Anyone who plans on hatching year after year... it's well worth the money. It is so easy and worry-free. There's no comparison to my LG - and I had some pretty good hatches, once I learned how to use it.
Keep posting pics of chicks. I want to see all the cute hatchlings!

Thanks for all of the advice!

Pagan I have my first test batch of 15 eggs in the antique redwood bator. That's just pathetic looking. I thought so, but figured Laura would go nuts if I set more eggs.

I showed her how the old style manual turner worked last night - she saw it turn the sad 15 eggs in the huge tray and said " you need more eggs, that's sad."

Woohoooooooo nature does abhor a vacuum!

But I have eggs in their last week, and in their first week. I think I'll shoot for marans for the first of the month.

Lord knows what's going to pop out of all these mystery eggs.

Well POOOOOO I have two early hatchers, darn hens must have started those two eggs before I collected them... gah, I hadn't messed with the humidity for the hatch yet... Bet the suckers are all dry...

I just realized that I didn'[t take the turner out yesterday. So I just did it. There is someone pipped into the aircell. YAY! I think it is one of Stubby's eggs.

I have an extra turner that someone gave me that is missing a row so I just decided to take it apart to use for hatching. I put two of the rows on the floor of the bator like you would an egg carton. Looks like it's gonna work well.

The two chicks that I thought were ducks hatched in the turner... it was even still turning!
Early ones are fun surprises!
I'm hoping my guinea hatches before thursday. DH is outside right now working on a coop extension with a "nursery." LOL!
He even mentioned building me a new breeding pen with the leftover materials!
He is just as chicken-crazy as I am!
