Who else is waiting for that first egg?

I'm still waiting. My girls are 19 and 20 weeks old, and no eggs yet. A friend and an aunt went in on a chick order from the same hatchery with me, and both have eggs from their flocks; mine are late to start, it seems. My 19-weekers are a Rhode Island Red, a white Leghorn, and an Easter Egger; my 20-weeker is an Australorp. I bought her (with a black sex-link, who was killed by the dogs) to replace a day-old that died the same night the hatchery order came in.

Only difference I can tell between my setup and Friend's and Aunt's is the dogs. Friend has a dog who ignores the chickens; Aunt has no dogs. I have three dogs, one of whom really likes to bark at the chickens. One only barks sometimes, and one completely ignores them.I'm beginning to wonder if the stress of being barked at is delaying egg-laying...

No such thing as Americana. There is a breed called Ameraucana, but they only lay blue eggs. If they came from green eggs, then the mother was an Easter Egger. If she was crossed with a brown egg laying rooster, you only have about a 25% chance for similarly green eggs. If your girls have pea combs, then the odds for green eggs are a bit better. If they have straight combs, they most likely lay brown eggs.
no, they are Americana mixes, and i dont know if they are going to lay green, but the man i got them from says they're mother layed green eggs. I hope they do.

I think we all knew what she meant...

I have seen it spelled that way many times, it may not be correct. I don't know. But we knew what you meant lol

I am anxiously waiting but wondering if the heat is going to impact. I definitely have one girl that should be laying soon as she has finally turned red. They will be 17.5 weeks tomorrow. My other girls aren't as read so I expect it will be a few more weeks. *the girl in the back on the ramp is who I think is closest to laying

What beautiful girls you have! It's exciting watching them grow and turn red because they get to pay rent! Hahaha and then you get yummy eggs!!!
