Bottle feeding a calf? I'm bottle feeding a black heifer named Buttercup. Her mother was our milk cow but she died last Friday so we are having to bottle feed her calf. I was just wondering if anybody else is bottle feeding a calf at the moment.

I'm not right now, but I have a friend that has about 15 bottle calves at the moment.
About once a week I am there at feeding time, so I help her. She does this all the time, and doesn't seem to have very many problems. She is my "go-to" person about bottle calves.

I've never bottle fed that many calfs at one time!
The most I've ever bottle fed was 1 calf and 7 baby goats ... don't ever try that at home ...

I'm bottle feeding one right now, a black and white heifer named Brat. I think I remember when your Buttercup was born, what happened to your cow?

Betsy ( The mother cow ) died. She had milk fever and she couldn't get up. We had to vet out we tryed everything to try and get her to get up, but she had given up and wouldn't even try. She died Friday the 12th. It was very sad. So now we're bottle feeding her calf Buttercup.
