Lol I love this! You’re an amazing chicken mom! Keep it up. I would like to take my 4 hens out too. Maybe next spring. They follow me everywhere so I think I could take them over to my fathers yard to get some variety in picking around. We just got our chickens this April and it’s our first year with them. I am totally in love with all 4 of them. They are so spoiled. Thhttps://youtu.be/m5ZxDC7uwAE
Thank you! Yes I definitely think you should take them on walks soon! I love it and they are all starting to sit down and even enjoy seeing the new things!

This is from a little bit ago but this is my hens getting situated for their walk! Have any of you gone on walks with your hens recently?

Hi all!
I own four wonderful hens and I decided that they should see the world so I bought a double-decker stroller (of course it's pink :) )

I try to take two of my hens on walks everyday and I have definitely gotten some attention from it. On the first day after I walked my chickens my neighbor came up to me and asked, "I don't mean to pry, but were you walking chickens earlier??" I proudly said yes!

At first, three of my hens didn't like it and pooped everywhere but now they usually will lay down and enjoy the little walk. They have even met some huge dogs (bigger than my golden retriever) and didn't freak out too much.

I haven't taken them anywhere that is out of the way but I want to be able to take some on walks to parks but that means being taken into my car and then going on a walk and all that, probably a lot of poop and stress will happen so I am going to keep practicing with them to hopefully get them ready!

I understand that many people might find this stupid but they are my pets! I have always wanted to spend more time with them and not always have to be in my backyard to do that so why not take them on walks! My best hen friend, Eddie, is turning 9 in March and has arthritis in both of her hocks. Due to this, she can't walk much and usually will just wait for me to come and visit her. She especially loves these walks and I love walking her too.

I will attach photos of the walks with them!
I love it! If my husband wouldn't make fun of me I would do it! certainly with how stressed my birds are at them moment!

Not anymore, there are dogs that live near me that are known to get loose so I don't take my hens out on walks. When I was a kid I used to take them in a toy shopping cart to Walmart and Safeway (would probably get in tt some trouble for that now) I would ask people if they wanted to pet my chicken. Hahaha. I was probably six.
When I was eleven I would ride my bike up and down the gravel road. The bike had a basket connected, and I had a friendly Ameracauna hen that would hop up in the bike basket and ride in the basket while I'd visit the neighbors. if she saw me on the bike but she was in the coop she would cluck and pace until I got her out. We had some buff orpingtons that would stay together as a group, we called them the squad because they were such a clique and they didn't let other chickens run with their group. They would walk unleashed around my parents' property with me and go back in their coop when the walks were over. Those were the days!

A little update in my little flock, I had four chickens so I would switch between them, always taking two one day and then two another day but recently, I lost the top hen of my flock.
In order to cope with it, I spent more time with my chickens and had to figure out how to take them on walks without leaving one behind.... which was difficult since Dev always picks on SJ
I didn't know what to do until Dev started to become friends with SJ, when before she would constantly bully her, now she is pecking her only when she steps out of line :lau

So I can take all of them on walks by putting Dev and SJ in the bottom crate, which is pretty tight, and putting Eddie on top. But then... SJ and Dev love to poop on walks so half way through I take Eddie out and carry her and put either hen in Eddie's crate. Eddie loves that though, she is so happy is if I'm carrying her :)

Well athough this thread isn’t the popular, I will give an update anyways. I haven’t taken my chickens on walks today but since it’s Christmas I thought they should be involved in the festivities 😂

I got a hat from Etsy and thought Eddie would be great for it since she can’t ran away from me due to her arthritis and she usually loves the little things I get her.
Well, it was a lot of head shaking and fighting, but she finally accepted it and I think she liked it :)
Did you guys do anything special today?
And Merry Christmas!
