I just moved the eggs into a carton and added water. I am waiting for the humidity to stabilize where I want it, then I'll lock it down. Maybe literally. Eggs are due on Monday.

I was so nervous working with them tonight--I was so afraid I was going to drop the whole carton or drop a glass of water on top of them or something stupid and horrible like that. But it went fine.

Who else wants to cheer each other on as we wait for those first sweet pips?

Day 19 and counting!

Good hatching vibes coming your way!

Thanks! You too!! I'm on Day 24 (going on 25)... they're duck eggs. We have to wait a whole WEEK longer, and it seems like forever!

Humidity's now in the 60s, so it looks like I'll be able to stabilize pretty easily where I want to be...

Waiting to hear about pips--any time now for you!!

My humidity has suddenly increased by a couple % and that's driving me buggy! Mostly it stays stable, so I'm thinking there is a pip on one of those eggs that I can't see. I have them upright in a carton and I can't see all the way around to the back of them should one have pipped on the back side....

Ooo--that's awesome. I bet you've got a pip. It's so frustrating when you can't see it! That was one of the --many-- times I made the mistake of opening the bator last time--when one would roll over where I couldn't see the pip any more--this time I'm keeping my HANDS OFF.

I tried to position the eggs in their carton so that I will have the best possible view. I've been tracking the development of the air cell by drawing an outline of it each time I candle (every 7 days), so I can sort of see at a glance which side the air cell is largest on. I'm *hoping* (and also very curious whether I'm right) that they will all pip on the side with the greatest amount of air cell--if so, then they will all pip on the front where I can see them.

At any rate, it should be very interesting to see where they pip in relation to the air cell drawings.

You too, Emily! How many days do coturnix take to hatch? Man, if you're locking down after only two weeks... I think I'll switch to coturnix!!

I have 8 BBS orpington eggs going into lockdown tonight. It's my first hatch ever, and I'm so nervous. Eggs are due on Monday, when can I expect my first pip?
