It's a really neat area! Only about 15 minutes or so outside of Barstow. Here a link to the BLM page and better pictures are found at this site. If we go, be ready for some hiking (not too bad...just a decent walk to see some really cool features.

). Going with me may be dangerous though. I've mapped the area before, so I know it fairly well, and being a rock geek..well, I can go on and on out there!

I really need to take a good geolgy course(s).

Lots of community colleges offer a gen ed geology course...some even offer ones on local geology! A basic understanding of rocks/geology makes for interesting family outings! (My DH may disagree at this point though since I like rock MUCH more than he does!

)
