I didn't but it was very slow. I don't much eat eggs (Lol?) I'm tyring to get into the habbit of liking them.. but for baking my grandparents just came but I hade like 13 deviled eggs! But thats because no one wants to buy mini eggs ._.

Well, now that the food-fest is over, maybe I won't need as many eggs. Of course today I had 4, but that was after I already baked the pumpkin bread LOL

My hens must have loved that little joke they played on me.......everyone needs a laugh over the holidays, including the chickens!

Had to buy 'em, but got lucky and passed somebody selling local eggs from a truck in our small town. So I got eggs, wild plum jam AND a new acquaintance in the area! Good deal.

He has (I think) sex-links, Golden Comets, and supplemental lighting....

I had to buy a couple of dozen for the same reason. Then had to hard boil some of "OUR" eggs and show the kids how difficult it is to peel super fresh eggs compared to peeling the elderly store bought eggs.

we have 28 hens at laying age we get about a dozen a day (since the molt is finally over). About half of the hens are 2 years old and soon as their replacements mature they will be going to freezer camp.

I boil eggs that are 1 day old and they peel with no problem
1st I keep eggs on counter so this is not an issue for me, but most important step is to have eggs at room temperature before boiling

2nd bring water to boil

3rd put fresh room temperature eggs into boiling water~I use a basket that lowers into water to make this easier

4th boil for about 11 to 12 minutes

5th VERY IMPORTANT step!! put eggs into ICE water to cool

6th peel and enjoy eggs that peel with NO effort!!!!

let me know how it works for you...I learned this from another BYC member and found that eggs being room temperature made a huge difference and also the ice water!

Blessings from FL

I have had to buy a couple of times, but I make sure that the commercial ones are used for baking only.
We were able to have new layers starting right at the beginning of winter, so that has helped out this year.
