THEY ARE HERE!!!! all 10 are doing great...no DOA and I couldn't be more thrilled!!! I'm in love, they are gorgeous......I'll try and add pics soon, they won't sit still long enough to take anything good. I tried to hold one of the silver laced wyandottes and I got a shot of it jumping out of my hand.lol! The Post master said she's never seen them packed so good.....they were all huddled on top of the heating pad. I'll post pics soon! YAHOO, it's a good day!

My little sleepy chick is still hanging in there. I've named her Kitty since she sleeps a lot and looks like an orange tabby cat all sprawled out. Lol.

Whew... Domestic_goddess I was holding my breath for you for a while there! SOOOO happy they arrived safe and sound... and bouncy!!

I believe MPC gets their chicks from Ideal.

I am having mine shipped April 12, too!

1 Speckled Sussex
1 EE
1 RIR
1 Red Star
1 Black Australorp
1 Barred Rock
3 Blue Silkies (my daughter is really hoping for a splash in the mix!)

So excited - have got to get working on that coop!!

I had emailed MPC asking if they were a drop ship company and here is their response: "We're not a drop ship service, exactly. We do work with a hatchery, but use our own incubator space, employ our own chick sexers (for instance, My Pet Chicken is the only place in the country that sexes bantams), have our own breeds and so on. For non-live items, we have our own My Pet Chicken warehouse and supplies, but do have others fulfill sometimes, depending on the item--some of our coops come directly from the manufacturer or builders, for example."
They didn't say who supplies them with their eggs--likely several places I would think. But they do hatch them! Congratulations to Domestic_Goddess on your chicks arriving safely and TwoChicks I've been checking on the "ACK!" thread for updates about the sleepy chick. I hope he pulls through for you. Can't wait for April because then it'll be my turn!

That totally satisfies my curiousity! Ive wondered for a long time how they work. Thanks for the info!

My goslings were not at the post office this morning. After a bit of phone work, my wonderful postmistress tracked them down to the main post office in Knoxville. So, I took a day off from work and went to retrieve them. 7 of 8 popped out of the box when I peeked in. One was DOA. One quick call to Ideal got my account credited for it. Now since they were a hatchery choice assortment, I get to try to guess what they are. All I know at the moment is that 5 are all yellow and 2 have brown on them.
