Who here has brought home more chicks then they originally planned?

We originally went to get 5 hens from a local farmer. We got there and and she had a really beautiful Brahma (sp) she said she normally didn't part with them, but she parted with one. We then purchased 10 speckled Sussex chicks from a different local lady. Two weeks ago, our neighbor down the road had a Black Star show up in his garage. No one claimed her. He called us, we added her to oour flock and there you go. From 5 to 17 in a flash.

Love them all!

The funny part here is I read these post and see how this works... but one referred to chicken math + grandpa = ducks....

I have one better for the chicken math issues...chicken math (amount decided on) + DH on midnights - wife to control = 100 chicks of barnyard/hatchery special. I have to say I was so furious when I got my shipment in and excitedly opened the box for DH mother...she just grinned I guess she knew what I was thinking of doing to her wonderful son. I have way too many different chicks including those ugly turkins and turkeys and ducks...do I need to continue.???... Well of course the ducks decided to be my friend at hello food time so I guess I get to keep them cause gee ya can't get rid of your pet ya know....and the turkeys have decided that hand that feeds em is fun to get in and see what is all in this big room. Last night while putting the feeder back in one of the turkeys jumped on my hand and had to see what was all going on outside that world and where all the excitement came from and he seen my labs.....of course that meant a sniff and lick session that poor turkey didnt like...but this morning guess what he back on my hand looking for some more so guess it wasn't so bad....

I guess I well I get to blame DH for this time getting 100 new babies instead of myself. But just FYI I been staying out of anywhere that has baby chicks for sale

100 ladies and well another ummm 100 babies nooo need more this year....but we shall see where next year takes me

I might get to be the guilty one.
