Who here is waiting on Eggs???

A journal is a great idea. I’ve decided to start one too. How many eggs do you have incubating?
I ordered "18+". With the USPS' handling of the package and the extra day they took getting them to me, 3 were cracked. The seller threw in several more so even with the 3 cracked I ended up with 21 eggs. They are all in the incubator now. It stays at 100 degrees, but the humidity is what keeps fluctuating. After reading a lot on here I have been trying to keep it at 40%.

A little fluctuation in humidity should be ok as long as you keep the average around 40% I think. If the temp is solid that is the main thing.

My last months hatch was not so good as I normally hatch in the upper 90% success range. 1000 eggs and I had to back off on the last (next) order as my hatcher would only handle about 750.

(Edit- I have two bators one turner and one hatcher, the turner will hold 12 trays...DIY based on the sportsman but better materials, and do all controller, faster, stronger motors...6 million dollar man:old.... My previous one held over 1700 quail eggs but was a clunky "bulky" overkill design with cheaper materials (1/2 inch PVC honeycomb board.. still have it collecting dust).

So on the last hatch, I had to add trays in where I found room in the hatcher, thus they were packed in like sardines. Probably part of the bad hatch issue.
(Note to dummy/lazy/self: buy "a round to it" and Mod hatcher to hold more trays or 1400 Quail eggs before blowing money!)

So this time around, I ordered "just enough" for the hatcher (750) and left half of my egg turning trays to gather dust.
Per tonight, quite a few have pipped and I am just killing time at 12:15 am. That reminds me.... time to check humidity and add water!

Everyone gets a few extra man I did not and 2 were cracked and 7 developed so I got 7 in there pipped just waiting!!!

I dunno if I will get any to hatch from these! One is working on it but I dunno

Depending on the amount of the zip, when I get a little board or have time, I will sometimes grab a dozen or so that seems to be troubled and help them out while the others are zipping. of course that is the ones that have zipped half to all around but failed to break a majority of the membrane. Otherwise crooked necks, feet or death. I just keep a spray bottle handy and mist when I open the door and before I close it....and whamo! The humidity is back up around 80-85% within about 2 minutes.
Grab a bucket load of chicks while I am at it as to make room if not tending to the unzipped zippers.

So far...about 350-400 have hatched and I have done put about half of them in the brooder. Feed and water........ 8 dogs, tend to newborn pups, pheasants, momma and baby pheasants in brooder pens, clean pans and feeders, for quail brooder (16 x 12 feet brooder) get water(ers) and feeders ready , heat lamps on ......

Man its hot and humid today! Had to come in for some lemonade!

Hatched. 11 Bob's, 8 turkeys, 21 guineas, 32 chickens and 176 cots over the last 2 nights.

6 trays of quail, turkeys, pheasant, and chicken left. Then I'm done hatching for the season.

What I'm getting for eggs now just giving away. A few went to a couple of people that wanted to hatch a few.

Lost a few of my layer hen chickens and quail assuming to the heat. Been miserable..

All I've hatched are going to a sale tomorrow and brooders should be empty. What left to hatch are next years replacements
