Hi my name is Debra Hammomn. I'm engaged to Robert Furman. We are new at raising chickens. We got 8 chicks tonight to start our flock. We live in Shinglehouse,PA. We need all the help we can get. We found out about this website from the ones that we got the chicks from.

Do you have a coop and a fenced chicken yard? How old are the chicks? When we first got chickens, there was a learning curve on protecting them from the predators. That old saying about everyone loves chicken certainly applied to the foxes, racoons, and I think coyotes around here! Good luck and have fun with them.

No we don't have a coop or fenced in area yet. They are going to me a week old on Monday the 14,2016. We have them in a tote right now. We are going to build a coop next month. The plane for the fence is to dig a trench all the way around to put planks in the whole so nothing can dig under the fence.I added a picture of our chicks.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

x2 on the Learning Center, there are a lot of helpful articles there to get you started. You might not want to wait a month to start your coop build...those little chicks grow pretty fast!
