who is good with computers

ok so i am good with computers but i have tryed my best and can not get my speakers and have been not working for a while now i was wondering if anyone knew why or if anyone knew how i could try to fix them

what happened to get them to stop working?

have you made sure all your drivers are up to date?..

all updates been done?

are they plugged in?.. (not to sound stupid... ours were working fine.. we went out came back and they were not working. hubby tried and tried could not get them working... to find out the cat went behind the computer tower and had jostled the connection.. took 2 weeks to figure that one out)

Have you checked the Plugin? And have they proporly worked before?

"A while now"? How long have they not been working?

Have you tried rebooting yet?

Alright, I will try and make this as simple as possible. I am assuming you run windows, not mac or linux. Make sure you don't have the sound muted on your computer or left headphones plugged in.

Go to START > Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab

Alright, with the playback tab selected, does are there ANY speakers listed? If yes, click on the speaker listed so it is highlighted, and then hit the CONFIGURE button that is below. Run a test, and make SURE that you have not accidentally muted the sound (BIG issue, my grandmother thought she broke her speakers when she had muted them and forgot about it). Did the test work? Did you hear anything? Turn the sound up if need be and try again if not.

Let us know of that works or not, if so, yay! If not, more troubleshooting to come!
